My name is Meg Reed and I am excited to work with your family this year!
I grew up in Garden City, NY, where I graduated from Garden City Senior High School. I earned my B.A. in English from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998. I then completed my Elementary Education coursework at Elon College (now Elon University) and began teaching at Seawell Elementary School in 2001, where I taught First Grade and Kindergarten. I stepped away from the classroom from 2005-2013 to be at home with my children and returned to teaching in the Fall of 2013, here at Estes Hills. I am thrilled to be teaching Kindergarten!
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Roger and our two children, Ryan (15) and Molly (12). We love playing, coaching, and watching lacrosse. And, of course, we LOVE cheering for our TAR HEELS!
Meet Mrs. Burk!
I am thrilled to be starting my 18th year working at Estes Hills! After teaching first grade for 15 years, I am excited about partnering with Mrs. Reed for 2018-19, where I look forward to supporting the students on their Kindergarten journey. I earned a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Frostburg State University in Maryland, and M. Ed. in Child and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Before teaching at Estes Hills, I taught preschool students, directed Day Care Centers, and volunteered in my children's schools. I have been married for 37 years and my son and daughter are all grown up. We like to get together at the beach, and visit extended family in Maryland.
